Corporate Shoot Day: The Wilko Stag Do!

On Saturday 2nd May Leigh Mill held its first Stag Do! A local group of family and friends wanted to try their hand at clay shooting and we were all too happy to show them the ropes and join in with their pre-wedding celebrations. The day was hosted by Terry and Mike Brewer for their Dad, Roger.

The lads arrived around 10.30am for a mid-morning breakfast and cuppa to get them started and then the Leigh Mill team set them to work! First and foremost was the
GUN SAFETY AND TUITION brief coupled with an extra dollop of gun passion when the Leigh Mill team - Ken, Nigel, Iain, Paul, John and Kevin joined in the practice session using their own personal shotgun collection to spice up the friendly competition that was quickly developing.

The lads shot 10 clays on each of two stands aiming at four quite different, yet challenging birds as practice, before moving onto the serious stuff - competition time.

After the first round, Roger (the groom to be) was in the lead with 5 out of 10 - not bad for a totally novice shooter and clearly happy to show off his new skill to his 2 sons who were part of the group.

Yet round two sort the men from the boys and Dave Daniels soon shot into the lead with a healthy score of 11. The lads then had time for a quick refreshment break whilst the winner was presented with a Top Gun trophy. They were then off on their travels for a late lunch and to continue the celebrations, allegedly at one of the local watering holes!

All round a great day with a friendly bunch who thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
